📝 Ingredients
-
1.5 – 2 lbs (680-900g) smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into 1-inch rounds
-
â…“ cup (80ml)Â honey
-
3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
2 tbsp ketchup or hoisin sauce
-
3Â garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
-
1 tsp sriracha or red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
-
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for thicker glaze)
-
Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat and Prep
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
2. Make the Honey Garlic Glaze
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, vinegar, and sriracha (if using) until smooth.
3. Coat and Bake
-
Place the sliced sausages in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Pour about half of the glaze over the sausages and toss to coat evenly.
-
Bake for 15 minutes.
4. Glaze Again and Finish Baking
-
Remove the pan from the oven. Pour the remaining glaze over the sausages and toss.
-
Return to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the glaze is bubbly and the sausages are caramelized around the edges.
5. Optional: Thicken the Glaze
-
If you prefer a thicker glaze, transfer the sausages and all the pan juices to a skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.
-
Add the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens.
6. Serve
-
Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
-
Serve immediately over rice, with toothpicks as an appetizer, or alongside roasted vegetables.
đź’ˇ Pro Tips
-
Sausage Choice:Â Smoked sausage, kielbasa, or even Italian sausage links work well. For appetizers, use little smokies cocktail sausages!
-
Don’t Crowd the Pan:Â Ensuring the sausages are in a single layer helps them caramelize instead of steam.
-
Broil for Crispiness:Â For extra caramelization, broil for the last 1-2 minutes (watch closely!).
-
Make it a Meal:Â Add chopped bell peppers and onions to the pan for a complete sheet-pan dinner.
These sausages are always a hit—sweet, salty, garlicky, and so simple to make!
